Olympus OM-D EM-1 MKII

This is a very early on sort of review of this camera, I'm really late to the party on this one as this camera has been out since late 2016 but I've finally caught up and it arrived yesterday morning. I've used the camera now for maybe two hours now and all I can say is WOW I wonder why I took so long!.

This body will be replacing one of my OM-D EM-5 bodies that has been doing 99% of all the work for the past few years (I managed to pickup a body for just under $300 instead of upgrading the EM-5 MKII which I didn't feel had enough reasons to upgrade)

Since I am already use to the Olympus system the menu doesn't phase me, more options, more buttons all a plus for me. This thing is fast! Boot time, focusing, shutter speeds, reviewing images changing settings, everything lightning fast, playback of the images can look like a movie and I'm shooting RAW!

FPS is mind blowing for me coming from a maximum of 9fps to a maximum of 60fps (in RAW!) with ProCapture or a more reasonable 15fps for mechanical shutter or 18fps for silent. This combined with an autofocus system that works for moving subjects (my EM-5 was not really good at this) is just magic!

Example of playback speed with a huge percentage of image in focus around 150mm @ 2.8

MegaPixel

The increase in MegaPixel from 16 to 20 is great, High Res Shot can produce up to an 80mp RAW image by using the IBIS to move the sensor 8 times, check out a Chris Eyre-Walker's explanation of High Res Mode I read it last night after now finally having the EM-1 MKII!

Here's some examples of photos taken with this mode, so far I've used it three times so I can only get better!

For the Sacred Heart Cathedral there was a little movement of the camera due to me pushing the shutter button and only using a small tripod that I had with me, with the Ghostbusters no movement as I used the touch screen to capture and a good tripod. There's also a shutter delay for this mode which I need to find and play with.

Thats it for now, need to have more of a play, really looking forward to what I can do with this camera!
