Road to Boston

Welcome to 1940’s Boston… sort of.

Today parts of Bendigo went back in time as scenes from the movie Road to Boston, a film about the first Korean to win an international sporting event since its independence from Japan in 1945. With scenes already shot in Geelong and Ballarat, it was now Bendigo’s turn.

It was great to see the 300 odd extras with the cast and crew shoot one of the running scenes. They got it in two takes before breaking for lunch where I was able to get closer to the now 1940s looking street in Bendigo.

I’d had a reminder in my calendar for this but I’d forgotten and only had my super wide angle 7-14mmm lens so zooming in on anything was not going to happen.

After the first take it looked like they were done so I asked one of the security team if I could get close in for a look (I was on lunch break and on limited time) but was told I couldn’t just yet. Next thing the call went out to reset and do it again.

As I said earlier they broke for lunch after the second take and I was able get some unique photos of Bendigo as I’ve never seen it before.

All photos have had the saturation taken down a little, I feel it makes everything seem it was from the past, I loved all the old signs and props, maybe Bendigo should theme the city up like this sometime!

Tomorrow is another shoot day again not far from work so I might take in a lens with zoom and see what shots I get.
